Life Is a Celebration - Song of the Month

"Life Is A Celebration" is an inspirational song written by Rick Springfield in 1976 and recorded  it for his album "Waiting for Love" that same year.

In "Fame" it appears  in the Season 1 episode "Street Kid", where Doris shows Tracy the runaway around the School. It is sung by Erica Gimpel and Carlo Imperato.

It  features on the huge selling Kids From Fame album and was released as a Single in The Netherlands in 1983.

When the cast toured in 1982 and 1983 it was an important part of the live shows and included on The Kids From Fame Live Album. The Live Version was also included on the "Body Language " Single.

When Erica didn't take part in the 1983 U.K. concerts Lori Singer sang part of the song.

Naturally it was also included on the compilation albums "Best of Fame" and "Ultimate Fame".

The Song has become a staple of all the Fame Reunions.  In 2019 in Liverpool Reunion shows Erica wasn't able to attend and Nia Peeples took the lead vocal, with the rest of the cast joining in. This version is available on the "Live In Liverpool" CD.

In 2022 the whole cast and backing singers performed on the song at the Reunion concerts.

The song was covered by London's Gay Men's Chorus on their 2009  "Accentuate the Positive" Album.

"I was lost on a winding road,
I thought that life had nothing left to give.
Then you came and showed me that just to live,
Was the greatest gift of all.

And you showed me,
Life is a celebration,
And Lord, I'm gonna celebrate.
Don't you know that,
Life is a celebration,
So come on now and celebrate, celebrate.
Life is a celebration.
Look it's a revelation,
So celebrate now, celebrate life, yeah,
Celebrate now, celebrate life, yeah!

How could I have been so blind?
Just to think that we were living to die.
Then you came along and I was no longer alone,
And you lead me to the light.
And you showed me.

Life is a celebration,
And Lord, I'm gonna celebrate.
Don't you know that life is a celebration.
So come on now and celebrate, celebrate.
Life is a celebration.
Look it's a revelation.
So celebrate now, celebrate life, yeah!
Celebrate now, celebrate life, yeah!

And you showed me life is a celebration
And Lord, I'm gonna celebrate.
Don't you know that life is a celebration.
So come on now and celebrate, celebrate.
Life is a celebration.
Look it's a revelation.
So celebrate now, celebrate life, yeah!
Celebrate now, celebrate life, yeah!
Celebrate, celebrate, celebrate,
Celebrate Celebrate, Celebrate Life!"
