The Kids From Fame Songs Album 1983

"The Kids From Fame Songs" was the fourth album to be released by the cast of the U.S. TV series "FAME". It was released in the U.K. on LP (KIDLP 004) and Cassette (KIDK 004) in May 1983, licensed to BBC records from RCA music. It entered the U.K. charts at number 14 on 12th May 1983, which was it's highest position. Over the course of the next 4 months it spent 16 weeks on the U.K. charts.

The album was produced by Barry Fasman for The Entertainment Company. Executive producers were Charles Koppelman & Martin Bandier.  Lead Vocals were by Debbie Allen, Lee Curreri, Erica Gimpel, Albert Hague, Carlo Imperato, Valerie Landsburg and Gene Anthony Ray. As with the first Fame album many of the songs including "Songs", "Lay Back and Be Cool" "Dancing Endlessly", "Beautiful Dreamer", "Be Your Own Hero" and "Just Like You" had already been recorded and released by their writers.

The Kids From Fame Album 1982

The Kids from Fame Album was released in the U.K. in July 1982 licensed to BBC records from RCA music. The BBC was only allowed to advertise it’s own products and in order for the album to be advertised at the end of each episode it needed to be on the BBC label. It soon became the biggest selling BBC album ever.
 
The album entered the U.K. charts at number 16 on 24th July 1982. Two weeks later it was at number one and stayed there for the next 8 weeks until Season One of the show had finished being broadcast. Over the course of the next year it spent 46 weeks on the U.K. charts, 12 of which were at number one. The album achieved platinum status and became the 2nd best selling U.K. album of 1982. In total it had sales in excess of 1,050,000 and was the 42nd best selling album of the 80s in the U.K.

Ultimate Fame 2004

 

The 2004 CD Compilation album brought together a best of collection of Songs from the original Fame Movie, Fame TV Series and Fame The Musical. With the lion's share coming from the TV series. 

Released In the U.K. and Ireland it had sleeve notes by Lee Curreri and as a bonus included 2 solo Lee Curreri Fame songs "Murphy Blues " and "False Alarm" neither of which had been released previously.

We are frequently asked about Fame music being released on CD and despite calls from Fans for all the Fame albums to be released on CD, As of 2021 only 3 official Fame TV Series CDs have been released.

The original Kids from Fame Album was released on Vinyl and Cassette by BBC/RCA Records in 1982. 

In the U.K. and Europe it was a huge selling album.

In the U.K. it is the best selling BBC album of all time selling over a million copies and reached platinum status.

Still it took until 14th October 2000 for the album to be reissued on CD.

Best of Fame

Originally The Best of  Fame Album was released on Vinyl and Cassette RCA/RCA Victor  Records in 1984 in the U.S. and central Europe but has never been released in the U.K. 

This CD version of the album was released at the same time in 1984 in Germany. 

Released on RCA Records Catalogue Number PD84961.
