Originally it was released by Billy Ocean as the title track of his 1985 Album
and released as the 3rd single from that album.
In Fame it is performed by Nia Peeples and Billy Hufsey in the Season 5 episode "His Majesty Donlon", where Chris Donlon has replaced his lookalike, the Prince of Vatonia and the Princess just happens to be the spitting image of Nicole, who Chris secretly has a crush on.
The song was never released on a Fame Single or Album and so far has never been performed during any of the Fame Concerts.
The

song was originally recorded by Gary Portnoy in for his self titled album. He
also released the song as a single.
The song was popular and released on the Kids From Fame Album in July 1982 and is one of the 4 songs on the Kids From Fame Flip Hits Cassette in 1983. The labum version contains more backing vocals (from the Waters Family) and is longer than the episode version.
It was also included as part of the ballad medley during the 1982 and 1983 live tours and features on the Kids From Fame Live Album.
The song also features on the 2004 CD Ultimate Fame.

The song was released on the Kids From Fame Songs Album in 1982/83 and also as a single in the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand but didn't chart..
Erica performed the song live during the first U.K. Kids From fame tour in 1982/83 and the performance is included on the Video release of the Kids From fame Live at The Royal Albert Hall.
Song writer Enid Levine also recorded her version of the song for her 1983 album "American Love". Enid said "I believe those words are relevant in my own life." ; "I got inspired to write it after John Lennon was killed."

"Hi Fidelity" was written by Enid Levine. Enid was writing and recording songs for her album when The Entertainment company who published her music started working providing the music for Fame. They submitted "Hi Fidelity", "Be Your Own Hero" and "Lay Back and Be Cool" which were all used in the show.
By the time Enid's album "American Love" was released in 1983 the Fame versions had already been released.
Here is her version of Hi Fidelity which she still performs in her concerts.
"Come What May" is a beautiful ballad written by Allee Willis & David Lasley in 1978 and was first recorded by Patti Labelle for her 1979 album "It's Alright With Me".
On Fame "Come What May" is featured in the season 4 episode "Who Am I Really?" where it was performed by Nia Peeples.
The song was popular and used for a couple of U.S. TV Appearances that Nia made on The Merv Griffin show and The Variety Club Telethon in 1985.
Nia also performed the song at the 2019 Fame U.K. Reunion in Liverpool.
The song has been covered many times over the years. Firstly by Herb Alpert & Lani Hall in 1980. Followed by Sharon Cuneata & Gabby Conceptcion in 1981. Then by Roslyn Kind in 1994 and Pops Fernandez in 1999. Most recently it was released by Marjorie Barnes & Equinox in 2017.
Sadly it has never featured on any of the Official Fame Albums or CDS.

"Dancing Endlessley" comes from the season 2 episode "Class Act" where it is performed by Debbie Allen and Oren Waters. 
The Song was written by Tom Saviano and Jean Marie Arnold, who were members of the group Heat and comes from their self titled 1980 album. It was also their debut single released on 7 inch and 12inch single.
Written in 1980 for the soundtrack of the film "Inside Moves" where it was performed by Lady Sylvia. It was also recorded by the songwriter Paul Jabara, however it was not released commercially until his "Greatest Hits and Misses" album which was released in 1989.
The song was performed live in 1983 in Israel as part of the ballad medley. A personal favourite of Valerie Landsburg she has performed the song live at Reunions in Italy in 2015, in L.A. 2017 and in the U.K. 2022.
