Young Heroes - Kim Wilde - Original Artist

"Young Heroes" comes from the season 4 episode "Spontaneous Combustion" and is performed by Valerie Landsburg and Nia Peeples.

It is written by Marty & Ricky Wilde and the original version was recorded by Kim Wilde on her 1981 self titled debut album.

Lyrics:
Everyone round keeps putting us down, let it go
It's the same old play in a grown up day
It's a stinging sensation
Hanging round on every corner
Where, all the young kids I know want to be

We only wanna stay young, we only wanna be free
He doesn't wanna be you, she doesn't wanna be me
We're all young heroes
We're all young heroes

Shouted down pushed and we're gettin' real bushed
Just have your say and we'll do it your way
If it makes you fell better
Nothing much to add to what I say
'cause I know just how it fells to be

We only wanna stay young, we only wanna be free
He doesn't wanna be you, she doesn't wanna be me
We're all young heroes
We're all young heroes

We only wanna be free

Download MP3

"We Build Our lives,
On Hopes And Dreams And Trust.
Such Fragile Things As These Can Turn To Dust.

And Yet, When All You Hoped For Comes Through,
When All You Dreamed Of Comes True,
It's Like Magic, Magic.

Oh, This Is A Special Place.
The Magic Is Here To See
And When It Works The Universe Is Dancing In Time With Me.

Oh, This Is A Special Place,
And Though I May Leave Someday,
In My Heart Will Remain This Very Special Place.

Because We Care,
No Matter Where We Go,

We Carry With Us All This Love And Hope.
It Keeps On Echoing Through These Halls,
Singing Through The Windows and Walls.
It's Like Magic, Magic.

Oh, This Is A Special Place.
The Magic Is Here To See
And When It Works The Universe Is Dancing In Time With Me.

Oh, This Is A Special Place,
And Though I May Leave Someday,
In My Heart Will Remain This Very Special Place."

Debbie Allen Wendy Williams Interview 2021

Debbie Allen Wendy Williams Interview 2021

Trivia of the Week - The Water Discuss Touring with The Kids from Fame

The Waters Family: Oren, Luther, Maxine and Julia performed backing vocals on The Kids from Fame Albums and toured the World with the cast performing backing vocals at the concerts. In an Interview with Christian John Wikane on Popmatters they talked about The Kids from Fame:
 i

In the early 1980s, Fame was a huge TV show, perhaps more so in the UK than in the states. What do you recall about touring overseas with the "Kids from Fame"?

Julia: That was a huge tour. Remember when the Beatles came over here, they called it "Beatlemania"? That's how people reacted to Fame. People were going crazy when they saw the kids from Fame. They even went so far as rocking the buses, just trying to get to us. It was crowds of people. We had to have tons of bodyguards.

Luther: You're on the road with Neil Diamond, that's pretty big, but when you're on the road and people swarm the bus as you're driving down the street? It was an experience. When you go into the arena, and you go down into the catacombs, there might be a window that goes into the outside, and people are standing in the window, saying, "Please sign this!" They would throw their booklets in. We played the most humongous venues. We played venues where there was no way that people could see us. We're not talking the Staples Center or Madison Square Garden. We're talking the big sons of guns. And they were sold out all the time!

It must have been an interesting tour because they were younger ...
Julia:... so they were crazy and wild! [laughs] You know how young people are, but that was cool too. They would jump in the pool with their clothes on. They'd come in the hotel, and you'd hear all the noise and the laughter, having a good time.

Luther: The only other adult on the tour would have been Debbie Allen. They were young adults but to me, they were all just kids. They had a lot to learn. I was, for sure, a very grown man. I had been through some things. I was the 'Grown Up' form Fame!

Julia: Janet Jackson was on that tour. She was very young and her mom had to come with us. In fact, Maxine did the voice of Janet Jackson because a lot of times, we had to cover for them on the stage. Maxine would sing her part and Janet would mimic. She'd move her mouth, but it would be Maxine singing. I don't think many people knew that, but that was the reality of it.

Montgomery MacNeill - Character of the Month

Montgomery MacNeill,

With red hair and hazel eyes, Montgomery stands at 5 feet 6 inches and refers to himself as Short!
In the episode “Baby Remember My Name Montgomery returns to the School of the Arts and says “Growing up, I always felt like the world was a black tuxedo, and I was a pair of brown loafers. I just didn't seem to fit in anywhere. And then I started classes at School of the Arts, and I instantly felt comfortable here. I was still my weird little self, but that seemed to be okay with everybody. I also found out that I had this special talent – I was a good actor. All of a sudden... I was somebody.”

Montgomery lives in the shadow of his Mother, Melinda McNeill’s success. As a talented and successful actress and performer her career came first leaving Montgomery in the wings. A situation he came to hate as he felt his Mother was missing his life.
Growing up his Mother was always busy with a new role and Montgomery spent a lot of time on his own.  Be the time Montgomery is at the School of the Arts his Mother’s career is slowing down but she is still chasing the roles.

They keep in touch by letter but don’t see each other very often.
In “Come One Come All” Montgomery states that his mother is performing an act. An act where she manipulates things to end up being the centre of attention.

Despite knowing how Fame can change a person and affect family relationships, Montgomery still decided he wanted to be a performer too and becomes a drama major. Although he has a keen interest in working behind the scenes and is often happy to be the stage manager of the school shows.
Montgomery is more clued up about show business than many of his friends and in “But Seriously Folks” he demonstrates his knowledge of TV commercials and when Doris gets a part in a commercial she goes to Montgomery for advice.

He also offers to help Julie settle in to life in New York when she first arrives in “Metamorphosis”. In passing grade he educates Danny on what an entourage is.

Montgomery is down to earth but has a head for business and in “A Musical Bridge” he secretly records one of Bruno’s songs and plays it to a band in the hope that it could lead to something big for both Bruno and himself.

Suddenly Montgomery disappears at the end of season one with no explanation to where he went and why. He returns in the final episode of season 6 but we never find out what happened in the previous 5 years.
