Quote of the Week - Billy Hufsey

Song of the Month: Come What May (Nia Version)

"Come What May" is a beautiful ballad written by Allee Willis & David Lasley in  1978 and was first recorded by Patti Labelle for her 1979 album "It's Alright With Me".

On Fame "Come What May" is featured in the season 4 episode "Who Am I Really?" where it was performed by Nia Peeples.

The song was popular and used for a couple of U.S. TV Appearances that Nia made on The Merv Griffin show and  The Variety Club Telethon in 1985.

Nia also performed the song at the 2019 Fame U.K. Reunion in Liverpool.

The song has been covered many times over the years. Firstly by Herb Alpert & Lani Hall in 1980. Followed by Sharon Cuneata & Gabby Conceptcion in 1981. Then by Roslyn Kind in 1994 and Pops Fernandez in 1999. Most recently it was released by Marjorie Barnes & Equinox in 2017.

Sadly it has never featured on any of the Official Fame Albums or CDS.

Wish I was your child

Hold me in your heart

We could love so free

And no, we'd never part

But I'm not a child

And wishes are

Just child's play, my love

Now I'll never be afraid

Of who I am

And who I'm not

Come what may

Wish I was a bird

I'd warm you in my wings

Safe from all the storms

You know true love can bring

But I'm not a bird

And wishes can

Just fly away, my love

And I'll never be afraid

Of who I am

And who I'm not

Come what may

Oh, I'm no fool shining in your eyes

Of the above stars, my love

No, we'll never be afraid

Of who we are

And who we're not

Come what may

Of who we are

And who we're not

Come what may

Wish I was your child

Wish I was a bird

Wish I was a child

Hitkrant Magazine of the Month

Hitkrant was a Dutch entertainment magazine, first published in October 1975, as an 8-page weekly free music magazine titled De Nationale Hitparade Krant. It was published in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

In January 1977 the name was changed to Hitkrant and the content expanded. It was no longer free.

Hitkrant eventually went on to be published fortnightly and continued to be printed until March 2017. After that the magazine was only available online. Throughout 1983 the Fame cast featured in the Magazine quite a few times.

We are posting the Fame related articles as part of our look at The Netherlands in April, May and June.

Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo

I worked so hard to get me a man
Don't try to take him away
I love my man like nobody can
Don't try or you're gonna pay
You've been gettin' too close, you've been goin' too far
How do you think you are
Some kind of star

You're headin' for a red light
Hot night
Satisfy
Dynamite
Red light
Hot night
Satisfy
Dynamite

Red light (Red's the color)
Hot light (It's the fever I got)
Satisfy (Red enough it would burn you)
Ooh
Red light (Red is all I can see)
Hot light (Hot is how it'll be)
Satisfy (Red for you if you mess with me)
Ooh

Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo (Don't mess with me, now baby)
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo (You're gonna drive me crazy)
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo (Don't mess with me)
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo (Don't mess with me)
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo (You got that, you got that fever, oh, ho)
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo (You got that fever, ho, yeah)
Doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo, doo

Red light (I'm talkin' ‘bout a real red light)
Hot night (I'll give you such a hell of a fight, yeah)
Satisfy (Don't you try to take my man)
Dynamite (I wanna hold on long as I can, yeah)
Now I don't want you hangin' around
My man is too hard to hold
But if you plan on hangin' around
I plan on stoppin' you cold
‘Cause I'm ready to rock and I'm ready to roll
I'm raging out of control
Look out below

You're headin' for a red light
Hot night
Satisfy
Dynamite
A red light
Hot night
Satisfy
Dynamite
Red light (My man)
Hot light (I wanna hold on just as long as I can, I said a red light)
Satisfy (A hot, hot night, baby, do it now)
Red light
Hot light
Satisfy
