In a Shanty In Old Shanty Town - Gene Anthony Ray

It's only a Shanty, in old Shanty Town.

The roof is so slanty, it touches the ground.

My tumbled down shack, by an old railroad track

Like a millionaire's mansion is calling me back.

I'd give up a palace if I were a king,

It's more than a palace, it's my everything.

And there's a queen waiting there,  with a silvery crown,

In a Shanty in old Shanty Town.

Oh, it's only a Shanty, in old Shanty Town.

The roof is so slanty, it touches the ground.

My tumbled down shack, by an old railroad track

Like a millionaire's mansion is calling me back.

I'd give up a palace if I were a king,

Say It's more, it's more than a palace, Baby it's my everything.

There's a queen waiting there,  with a silvery crown,

In a Shanty in old Shanty Town.

I'd give up a palace

If I were a king,

Why it's more, it's more than a palace,

Baby, it's my everything.

There's a queen waiting there,  with a silvery crown,

In a Shanty in old Shanty Town. (Shanty Town)

In a Shanty in old Shanty Town.

Where Have All the Movie Heroes Gone - Gene Anthony Ray & George Kirby

Whatever Happened To the Heroes?

Who Glorified The Movie Scene.

The Bogart’s, the Gable’s, The Cagney’s, The Fairbanks’

Who plays Across The Silver Screen.

Where Are The Dudes Who Saved The Damsels In Distress?

The Team Men, The Pirates, The Captains, The Cowboys

Who Braved the Fray, They save The Day.

Back When A Guy Had Pizzazz like Basil Rathbone,

Or The Swashbuckling charm of Errol Flynn.

All Gone Are the Guys, We Used To Play I Spy With,

Now Who’s A Guy Supposed To Identify with?

Where Have All The Movie Heroes Gone?

You Mean Like Cagney,

“You Dirty Rat, You Dirty Rat”.

Bogart,

“All You Gotta Do Is Puck Up Your Lips And Blow Sweetheart”.

Bojangles,

"Everything's copacetic".

Edward G Robinson,

“I’m The Big Shot Around Her, You Understand, It’s Me So say So”.

John Wayne,

“When I Say Kill A Brick I Mean Kill A Brick!”

And Rod Chester,

“Mr Billy, I’m calling You Mr Billy.

I’d Walk a Million Miles For One Of You Smiles, Mr Billy!”

Now We Never Analyzed Or Criticized Them,

Every Saturday Afternoon, We Just Idolized Them.

Where Have All The Movie Heroes Gone?

I Mean Look At Who You Got Nowadays?

Superman’s A Cartoon and Kermit’s A Frog,

ET’s An Alien and Benji’s A Dog,

Oh Where? Where Did They Go?

Where’s W C Fields, Now That We Need Him So?

Where Have All The Movie Heroes Gone?

Oh, Bring them Dudes Back One More Time. Yeah!

City Nights - Melissa Manchester - Song of the Month

"City Nights" is a synthesized dance pop song performed by Melissa Manchester. Written by  George D Kieffer, Michael Bellotti, Ross Sany Longo, Melissa Manchester & Arif Mardin in 1983 it it appears on Melissa's 1983 album "Emergency".

An edit of the song was used for Melissa's guest starring appearance in the season 3 episode "Home Again".

The song was also released a single in Japan and was covered by Dutch girl group The Dolly Dots for their 1985 album "Attention".

As yet the song has never been performed in any of the Fame concerts.

Dolly Dots 1985 Cover Version

"I got a hunger running deep

I got a pain that you can't see

Here in the city I feel free

To chase what's calling me

Now in a world that plays for keeps

There is a party in the streets

I'm gonna do what I have to do

To make a life for me

But it takes you some time

Till you get you a mind of your own

City nights

I'll be what I want to be

The nights are gonna rescue me

Cause you know that I'm living

Deep in the city nights

Never gonna be alone

City nights will be my home

City nights

City nights

I work all day it's wasting time

It pays the bills it kills my mind

But I do what I have to do

To keep my dream alive

And when the moonlight hits the street

I feel the thunder of the beat

And suddenly I know what I've been waiting for

But it takes you some time

Till you get you a mind of your own

City nights

I'll be what I want to be

The nights are gonna rescue me

Cause you know that I'm living

Deep in the city nights

Never gonna be alone

City nights will be my home

City nights

City nights

City nights

I can't wait any longer

I know where I belong

There's my star moving faster

But I'll take my chances

I got to be strong

City nights

City nights

City nights

I'll be what I want to be

The night's gonna rescue me

Cause you know that I'm living

Deep in the city nights

I'll be what I want to be

The nights will rescue me

Cause you know that I'm living

Deep in the city nights"

Cuz, you know just what to say,

And you know just what to do,

And I want to tell you so much, I love you.

I long to see the sunlight in your hair,

And tell you time and time again how much I care.

Sometimes I feel my heart will overflow,

Hello.

I’ve just got to let you know.

Cuz, I wonder where you are,

And I wonder what you do.

Are you somewhere feeling lonely,

Or is someone loving you.

Tell me how to win your heart,

Cus, I haven’t got a clue,

But, let me start by saying,

"Tomorrow morning the sun will come up
The darkness will fade, tomorrow morning
Without a warning in each of our hearts
The whole world will start again

A celebration
A song on the wind
I feel it begin
I see it shining
There is a promise
A sword in the stone
Make it your own
Tomorrow morning

Reach out so far your dreams touch the sky
Don't let your soul forget how to fly
And when it calls you just hold out your heart
The whole world will start again

Tomorrow morning the sky will be new
A different blue
tomorrow morning
As loud as thunder and brighter than a star
You'll be who you are tomorrow morning

Reach out so far your dreams touch the sky
Don't let your soul forget how to fly
And when it calls you just hold out your heart
The whole world will start again

Tomorrow morning  Tomorrow morning Tomorrow morning Tomorrow morning Tomorrow morning The whole world will start again
Tomorrow morning Tomorrow morning, Tomorrow morning Tomorrow morning, Tomorrow morning  The whole world will start again Tomorrow morning Tomorrow morning

"Do Do Do Do, Do Do Do Do Do,
Do Do Do Do, Do Do Do Do.
 Hello, I'm Leroy Johnson.
Yeah I'm Here To Audition For You.
Hey, Mr Snowman, Check This Out.

I Feel A Fancy Tingle Down To My Toes,
And With Every Step It Grows and it Grows.
I'm Oh So Happy Well I Just Know,
Somebody Must Be Grinning Down On Me.

The Winter Wind Is Blowing Snow Through My Hair,
I'm Cold And I'm Wet But I Don't Care.
I Feel So Sunny Today I Swear,
Somebody Must Be Grinning Down On Me.

Let The Clouds Go By,
Gonna Let My Spirit Fly
I'm Such a Lucky Guy.
The Whole World Is Fine,
Watch Me Shine.

It's Time To Tell Them All Who's Around
I Gonna Walk In An Tear Up The Town.
Because There's So Much That I Was Born To Be.
Somebody Must Be Grinning Down On Me.

Do Do Do Do, Do Do Do Do,
Do Do Do Do, Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do.

Well All My cash Has Slipped Away,
I've Got A Stack Of Bills To Pay.
On This Sweet Holiday,
There's No One Who Could Be As Rich As Me.

It's Time To Tell Them All Who's Around
I Gonna Walk In An Tear Up The Town.
Because There's So Much That I Was Born To Be, Yeah.
Somebody Must Be Grinning Down.
Flashing A Smile All Over Town,
Somebody Must Be Grinning Down On Me.

Yeah eh Yeah!"

Where is the missing one, the missing one,

Where is the missing one, the missing one.

There is a missing person that I’ve just got to find.

Now just how long they have been gone

I can’t say at this time.

I glanced outside my window surprisingly to see,

The reflection of a broken man who looked somewhat like me.

I’m trying to find my Whereabouts, what shall I do?

When nothing seems to follow through.

In me, trying to find my Whereabouts, I’m turning blue,

But wait I may have found a clue.

My Whereabouts are somewhere in yesterday with you.

Where is the missing one, the missing one,

I looked inside an album of happy photographs,

To try to match the feeling, In the joy I used to have.

I travelled through the moments that held a special place,

But every time what came to mind is that smile upon your face.

I’m trying to find my Whereabouts, what shall I do?

When nothing seems to follow through.

In me, trying to find my Whereabouts, I’m turning blue,

But wait I may have found a clue.

My Whereabouts are somewhere in yesterday with you.

Where is the missing one, the missing one.

Where is the missing one, the missing one.

My Name Is Holmes,

I’m Sure You’ve Heard Of Mr,

And Watson!

Solving Most Crimes Is Elementary,

Not A Problem.

But Once I Must Admit,

I Met My Mental Match,

More Deadly Than The Rest,

He’ll Show You No Mercy.

Stay Away From Moriarty,

Turn Your Back And You’ll Be Sorry.

Keep Away From Moriarty,

Don’t You see You’re Just A Trophy,

In His Eyes.

Read Between the Lines,

Before It’s Too Late.

He Kills With Totally Cruel Efficiency,

Leaves No Traces.

His Evil Past Is Still A Mystery,

So Evasive.

Behind His Smiling Face,

There Beats a Heart Of Steel.

As Sharp As Any Blade,

Don’t Let It Cut You.

The Spider Spins His Web,

You’re The Victims Tonight.

And Now The Trap Is Set,

You’re Really In Danger.

Don;t Be Scared Of Moriarty,

Holmes Is Hear And He’ll Be Sorry.

I’ll Take Care Of Moriarty.

It’s Elementary,

And I’ll Be Ready.
