Fame News September 2023

 40 years ago the Sing For You album reached it's peak position on the UK album charts at number 28 on 3rd September before it started to fall down the charts again.

The Kids From Fame Live and Songs albums make their final appearances on the UK album charts. 

The final 3 episodes of season 2: "Ending on a High Note", "U.N Week" and "Not In Kansas anymore" were broadcast by the BBC in the U.K. 

Of Course a year ago we were celebrating at the Fame U.K. Reunion in Birmingham. How can it have been a year already? We need another Reunion to look forward to!



Last month Debbie Allen's mother Vivian Ayres Allen celebrated her 100th Birthday with a family celebration. Debbie spoke to Ebony Magazine about her Mother's milestone birthday.

Meanwhile Debbie posted pictures with her daughter and granddaughters going to Disney Land


Also Debbie held the The Remember My Name Ball, which took place last month to raise funds for the Debbie Allen Dance Academy and featured Billy Porter.  



The Short film "Lux Freer" directed by Cynthia Gibb will screen at the the Bridgeport Film Fest on Friday 8th September 2023 from 8.00pm to 9.30pm as part of Block 3the LGBTQIA block.



Lee Curreri was in Italy last month and according to News Italy 24 he met with Mayor prof Antonio D’Amelio to search for ancestors who have Montemilonese origins.

Erica Gimpel has recently completed course in directing and directed and acted in a short film titled "Have a Heart". 

Erica said: "Dearest Friends & Family,

How we USE OUR TIME when a DOOR CLOSES is truly UP TO US…

I CHOSE to GROW and EXPAND!

During this unprecedented Union Strike Summer, I got accepted into two Sundance Collab Directing courses. I shot a short film that I directed and acted in. And I SEIZED THIS TIME to GROW in the direction I have been wanting to go in… 

I am thankful and grateful to the creative team of artists and friends who came together to help create and contribute to this project… I look forward to sharing “Have a Heart” with all of you in the very near future!

Fame dancer Serge Rodnunsky will be performing with his band Serge The Power at 17522 Chatsworth St, Granada Hills CA on Saturday Sept 16th, 7-10pm

Fame Dancer Kim Maselli (Layton Hurley) was recently in London and visited the Royal Albert Hall where she and the Kids From Fame performed when the cast toured in the U.K. for the first time in 1982.

It's a short month this month as we are away on holiday. We'll be posting until September 11th and will then take a 2 week break and return with new posts on 25th September. With that in mind there are non e of our usual Cast member, Character, crew member, Song of the month features but they will all return in October.
