Titbits - Magazine of the Month

Titbits is a hugely British magazine that was first published in 1881. Founded by George Newnes it was a weekly publication on cheap newsprint. It's full title of Tit-bits from all the interesting books and newspapers of the World.

Like a mini encyclopedia it featured tit bits of information on a diverse range of subjects often concentrating on the sensational and dramatic.  Popularity soared and it became the first British publication to sell over a million copies per issue.

By the 70s and 80s it was owned by IPC magazines and the magazine focused on Tit bits of information on celebrities, gossip and popular culture and was mainly aimed at women.  Although by this time circulation had dropped and after a wage dispute the magazine ended in June 1984 with it's final issue published on 18th July 1984. The magazine was then taken over by a similar rival magazine "Weekend" which was published by Associated Newspapers. Weekend ceased being published in 1989.

In 1983 Tit bits featured Fame a a number of occasions and the cast graced the covers for the 30th April and 13th August 1983 issues, with small features on Debbie, Gene, Albert, Morgan and Lee. a sneak peak of the Wizard of Oz episode came in the 1st September 1983 issue and then as Season 3 started broadcasting in the U.K in February 1984 we had small features on Cynthia Gibb on 3rd March 1984 and Billy Hufsey on 10th March 1984.

If anyone has the Billy Hufsey feature or knows of any other issues that features Fame related articles then please let us know.
