"Dare To Dream" is a beautiful ballad performed by Valerie Landsburg in the Season 4 episode "The Return of Doctor Scorpio", where Doris has been yelled at by her hero visiting actor Trevor Kane.
The song is written
by James Dunne, who wrote the music & Pamela Phillips Oland who wrote the
lyrics. A few years ago Pamela said she'd forgotten all about this song but
revisiting it she was impressed with how good it actually is.
It's a shame that
this song was never released on any Fame album or was covered by another
artist.
Valerie performed
the song live at the 2017 Italian Reunion. It was a powerful version where she
was accompanied by Lee Curreri on piano and the band performing wonderful
backing vocals,. with the melody going into "Somewhere Over The
Rainbow" at the end.
