William Francis Claxton was born on 22nd October 1914 in Los Angeles County.
He started his career working as an editor's assistant in 1939 on a show called Frontier Marshall. He quickly moved on to the role of editor on TV Shows in the early 1940s.
Then in 1948 he moved to directing and worked solidly directing TV episodes for the next 40 years on shows like Bonanza, The High Chapparal, little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven.
He also served as a producer on some of those shows and is credited as the creator of High way To Heaven.
He worked on Fame as a director in 1983 and 1984. He directed 10 episodes of the show during seasons 3 and 4.
