We were saddened to hear Erica Gimpel's father Joseph Gimpel died on 19th October aged 81. Erica paid a loving tribute him on  social media:

"My father, my hero, my touchstone, my friend... I love you with all my heart... I miss you with my entire being...

I will hear you in every song you have sung... repeating the lyrics to me with such excitement and reverie in your eyes, excited to sing them that night...
If I can be as grounded, as generous and in the moment and speaking my truth as you... I will be okay... Your honesty... oh how I will miss our talks my dearest dearest father.. I am so grateful that you have...
been proud of me, and these months together I am sooooo grateful for.... Time, precious time... to have one more conversation with you my dear father...

I’ve never known the kind of sadness I am feeling right now, but I will let the tears flow knowing when I am ready they will slow down... I will allow whatever needs to come through me during this time... because the earth has shifted with your departure... But I pray you are singing your favorite songs every hour of the day... merging with the glorious music of our universe... I love you my dearest dearest father... Grateful to call you my dad... May I be as honest within myself, may I care as deeply, may I ponder the questions of my inner being as you would do...

As I journey forward in this life, it won’t be the same without you on this physical plane, but may I feel you, hear you, knowing you are with me always... As I write a song or play piano may I find you, feel you there...
Please know I will take care of mom, and we will find our way arm and arm, supporting each other on this path of life... But your presence will be missed for we are the trio... The trio who’s love truly will always be reflected in these lyrics:
"It’s very clear/ Our love is here to stay/ not for a year/ but ever and a day... In time the Rockies may crumble/ Gibralter may tumble/ they’re only made of clay but...
Our Love is here to Stay”

So in truth even this separation on the physical plane won’t separate our love... my dear dear father... I am so glad you came to the set last Tuesday to hear me sing... We’ve had fun these last few weeks... We’ve laughed a lot and you were happy... We had our heart to heart talk that made your eyes twinkle, oh how I loved to make your eyes twinkle...

Thank you for inspiring in me a love of music, a love of poetry and a love of life itself... You’d say you had a utopian view of life, which a lot of times left you feeling discouraged based on what has been currently happening in our country and world. But I am grateful you viewed life in that way... because you wanted the best for all people, a caring for all people, an America that truly lived up to its name... You had a childlike spirit, a playfulness that I hope to have when I’m 81 years young...

So, Thank you...Thank you...Thank you...
From the bottom of my heart
For everything...
My dearest dearest dad.
My pops
My father
I love you now and forever...
Your daughter,
Erica Fawn Gimpel💜"
