Happy New Year From Nia Peeples

#‎HappyNewYear‬!!!
before I get into my little story, I have a gift for you. It's been available on my website but I wanted to extend it to everyone here. These are some of the most powerful ‪#‎transformation‬ tools for redefining your life in the new year. http://www.niaselementsoflife.com/tools/

So here's what I wanted to share:
My New Year's List

It's the last day of the year. I woke up this morning to a howling wind, my little beach trailer creaking like a ship at sea. It was 5:30 am and dark as night. Wild as it was outside my home, nothing but quiet existed within, save for my tossing about in bed. (A little house full of sleeping people tends to amplify every movement and even more so, every thought.) I lay there for a moment, unsure of what I wanted. You'd think my desire would be to go back to sleep like any other rational human being. But it wasn't. And I'm not. Locked up tight in my sleepy little house with all that wind and life whipping about, I had to get out. Or rather, I had to get IN to the outside world and all the energy it offered. I dressed in the dark, grabbed Dougie the doggie, whom I'm caring for at the moment, and headed out for a walk.

Boy, do I love the wind. It whips up scents form the Earth and the sea, brushes your face with leaves from the trees. And I was there, a part of it, as much a part of it as the sand blown up onto the berm and the wild mustard tumbling across the highway. Somewhere down the road, a coyote got a whiff of my presence, carried to it's little nose by that wild wind. It excites me to know I'm a part of all that energy; experiencing it as much as contributing to it. It made me contemplate the coming year. What DO I Want?

It occurred to me that with each New Year comes two lists of desires. One is a mile long and comes quickly to the mind: get my finances in order, get a new car, a new job, lose weight, whatever. The other is but one sentence, one clear, concise sentence that takes deep stillness to understand and express. But when we do, it's profoundly simple and true. It's one desire: to BE a certain way, a certain person, your truest, most authentic person. It's the "I am..." desire.

Over the course of a year, the long list NEVER sees it's completion. Try as I might, year after year, nope. It just doesn't get done. And the short one is all but forgotten in my efforts to complete the first. But If I live each day in honor of the short "list," that one sentence, that, "I am..." my desires from that interminably long list begin to be fulfilled, even reshaped, redefined, BETTER defined.

The question isn't which list to complete first but rather, which list do I begin with every day. The answer is always the short list, that one sentence, the "I am...." Why? because contained within that sentence is the essence of who we are, and our ability to shape our very destiny.

You are what your deep driving desire is
As your desire is, so is your will
As your will is, so is your deed
As your deed is, so is your destiny.

Brihadaranyaka Upanishad

Here's to an amazing new year, and being the best, the most of who we are.
I'm ready to rock the new year!
xxoo
