Looking back 40 years to October 1983: The 3rd series of Fame started broadcasting in Syndication on American TV on 15th October with 3 episodes airing that month: "Gonna Learn How To Fly Part 1", "Gonna Learn How To Fly Part 2" & "Hail To The Chief".
Then at the end of October 1983 Erica Gimpel filmed her final scenes on the episode "Breakdance" and left the show.
The Rock n Roll World Single and Album were released in America, whilst in the U.K. the "Sing For You" album made it's final appearance on the album chart on 1st October 1983.
This would be last time the cast appeared on the singles or album charts until 2004 when the "Ultimate Fame" CD brought them back to the charts for 9 weeks in 2004 /2005 /2007. Coincidentally, "Ultimate Fame" was also released in October and made it's first appearance on the charts 19 years ago on 16th October 2004.
Also back in 1983 magazine coverage on the cast had began to reduce but the picture strips continued throughout the month in TV Tops and Lee Curreri graced the cover of the Halloween week issue.

Apologies to anyone struggling to access the Fame TV Series Archive Site last month. I discovered by chance that Google sites had blocked parts of it. Sadly they didn't notify me there was any problem and I could work on it in Admin mode without seeing any issues either, so initially I as unaware of any problems.
However, accessing the site as a visitor I was greeted by a message saying the site had been blocked due to violations of either their terms of service or program policies. Both these categories include numerous rules so I had no idea what was wrong. It was frustrating not to have been notified and even more frustrating not to be given a specific reason for the deemed violation. I assume it was the actions of some computerised check.
Horrified that the whole archive was gone forever, I set out to try to find some way to contact them, to try to discover what the issue was and to find a way to resolve it. However, they clearly don't want to engage with people and I had no luck finding contact details.
I then discovered that not all of the site was blocked, some pages were still accessible. This made even less sense; surely if a site breaches some vague rule then it would be the whole site that would be removed?
Next to the message about the violation was an appeal button. I pressed it, hoping it would be a way speak to them but their appeal system gives no way for a person to say anything apart from "I want to appeal." I wasn't hopeful and had no idea how long the process would take.
Again, there was no notification of the outcome but straight away the site was back! Well, so I thought. I'd pressed the appeal button on the Home page and that was what was back but it appeared that the other blocked pages were still blocked! This meant every page had to be appealed individually.
Regular visitors will know that there are a lot of pages with a lot of links and everyone had to be visited. Hopefully, I've gone through them all and appealed and all have been reinstated but if anyone comes across any pages that give a 404 Error, saying the page is not found on the server, then please let me know as it's likely to be one I've missed and is still being blocked and I just need to appeal to get it reinstated.
At the end of the day, I'm none the wiser of what the problem was or how saying I appeal, changes the content of the site so that it conforms with the rules that have supposedly been violated. However, I've complied with they time consuming silly process and we seem to be okay again. Despite the time it took, it was only a fraction of the time it would have taken to rebuild from scratch and to be honest I wasn't sure I was going to start again.
