Christopher Donlon is a tough talented modern dancer who learnt a lot from dancing on the streets. He's a little rough around the edges which causes him problems with Lydia when he first joins the School of the Arts. Having realised that Leroy is the major competition at the school he and he has to rely on his nemesis to help coach him in classical dance.
His confident and at time bordering on arrogant attitude can sometimes rub people up the wrong way, particularly when under pressure. Like when he tells Lydia the names of the dance schools he attended, it's obvious that he's made them up.
His mother has died leaving his father a single parent with 4 kids. Chris' oldest sister Eve has left home to start a family of her own and when his Father loses his job and suffers with depression in "The Home Front", Chris is left to struggle looking after his younger brother and sister, and Keith and Tracey.
In "Knockout" we discover Chris used to be a boxer and old opponent who blames Chris for ruining his career wants a rematch.
In "Signs" whilst trying to impress a girl, Chris falls and hits his head, causing him to loses his hearing. Initially he tries to hide the problem but the truth soon comes out and he has to leave the school for awhile in order to attend a special school for the deaf. Thankfully his hearing comes back.
Chris often makes mistakes and tries to weasel his way out of things until the truth finally comes out and he learns his lesson, like in "Consequences" where he copies Holly's test paper or in "Team Work" where he lies about helping Leroy get a part in the ill fated Movie Chris is supposed to be the star of.
Chris has a strong friendship with Danny and they even talk about becoming a double act.
Chris is often unlucky in love falling for a Czech exchange student in "Czech Mate" who isn't allowed to date American boys. Then falling for Trevor Kane's estranged wife in "Take My Wife Please" and for a drug addict named Julie who dies from an over dose in "White Light".
In "Contacts Chris is dating both Kate and an older producer who he thinks can further his career.
In "Back To Something New" Chris has graduated from the School of the Arts and works at Lou's Lanes whilst trying to establish his career. Although he doesn't find being out in the real World as easy as he thought it might be.
