Ira Steven Behr - Crew Member of the Month

 


Ira Steven Behr was born on October 23rd 1953 and raised in the Bronx, New York City, By a Jewish Family. Fascinated by books and reading his childhood dream was to be able to own an adult library card so he could get out of the kids section and into "The real books". 

He studied at Lehman College in New York and after graduating he bummed around in Europe and then eventually moved to L.A. to pursue a career in writing.  

In 1981 his first job in television was in 1981 as a writer on "Bret Maverick" and later that year he served a s story editor on Jessica Novak.

In 1984 he was hired by MGM on "Fame" to help new Executives Produces Donald Reiker and Patricia Jones, as a producer and writer. He stayed with the show until the final episode and even had a cameo appearance in the final episode.   


After Fame he moved to star Trek The Next Generation as a writer and would then move as one of the main creative forces on Star trek Deep Space Nine as a writer and Producer. He would even reuse his script for the Fame episode "The Ol' Ball Game" for an episode of DS9.

He has also been a writer and producer on "Crash" "4400" and "Outlander".

In 2014 he was Associate Producer on "That Dick Miller Guy" celebrating the life of Fame cast member Dick Miller.
