Fame News March 2023

Looking Back 40 years to March 1983 Lori, Debbie, Carlo, Geen, Lee and the Fame dancers were arriving in the U.K. to embark on their 2nd Tour. They appeared on the Russell Harty Show special filmed from rehearsals at the Blackpool Opera House.

The Live Single "Friday Night" sung by Carlo Imperato entered the U.K. charts at Number 97 and initially struggled to climb any higher than 87 before it started going down.

The Kids From Fame Live album reached number 29 this month on the U.K. album charts and then that too began to drop going down to number 82 by the end of the month. The fortunes of both the single and album would change dramatically in April but we'll cover that next month.

The cast were popular in the British media with covers and articles in Patches, Look In, TV Tops, Oh Boy, Loving and Jackie. The newspapers were also printing stories about the cast pretty much on a Daily Basis. Much was made about Valerie Landsburg and Erica Gimpel not being part of the tour.

In March Kids From Fame Media posts will be Celebrating:

The song was recorded in Finish and the title is "Tahdon Luottaa" also featured on a 1984 double A side single.

Irene Cara was remembered at the BAFTAs last month as part of the memorial for those lost in the last year.

Irene was also part on the Screen actors Guild Awards In Memoriam tribute in which the accompanying song was "Out Here On My Own".
