Crew Member of the Month - William Goldstein - Composer


William Goldstein was born and raised in Lakewood, New Jersey and first started playing piano when he was 3 years old. He is a composer and producer and spent 5 years attending the Manhattan School of Music, which Lee Curreri also attended.

Throughout the 1970s he began composing music for a number of films and TC series. Then In 1975 Berry Gordy offered him a contract and he began his career as an arranger and producer for Motown Records, working with the likes of Smokey Robinson and Dionne Warwick.

He has over 60 scores written for projects like “The Wonderful World of Disney”, “Hello Again”, “Ocean Quest” and “The Twilight Zone” to name just a few.  


On Fame he scored the soundtracks for 47 episodes of the show, working on all the Season 1 and 2 Episodes except the Pilot and a number of Season 3 episodes.

Most notably he composed the music for the song  "A Special Space", performed Debbie Allen and he composed the musical pieces “To Soar (Ballet For Kathy)”, “Synthifrenia” and “Find Your Dream” from the “Not In Kansas Anymore” episode which he was nominated for an Emmy Award.

An album of Williams Fame compositions was released in 2008 titled “William Goldstein – The Music of Fame”.

In 2017 William joined Debbie Allen on stage at the L.A. Fame Reunion to perform “A Special Place”.
