With the "Fame" TV show an instant success the theme song climbs to number 1 on the U.K. Singles chart for 17th July 1982. Irene Cara records a special performance for Top of the Pops and a special message. Gene Anthony Ray, Valerie Landsburg, Lee Curreri and Carol Mayo Jenkins also appear on Top of the Pops in a special video message thanking fans for their support. Lee Curreri mentions he has a song on the Kids From Fame Album and encourages people to buy it but this hasn't yet been released. I remember going into lots of record stores over the next few days to try and find it but only the Movie Soundtrack album was available which is at Number 5 on the U.K. album chart.
