The Fame theme song was all over the radio, on the TV show and on Top of the Pops as Irene Cara jumped from 51 to number 4 on the singles chart for 10th July 1982. The single also fuelled interest in the Original Soundtrack album and that climbed from 35 to number 13 on the U.K album chart.
