Debbie Allen's Top Ten Albums!

The follow article comes from Sunday Express from 25tth October 2009 where Debbie picks her favourite 6 albums:

DEBBIE Allen, 59, starred as Lydia Grant in the hit Eighties’ TV series Fame. She’s currently directing Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, which opens at the Novello Theatre on December 1

Mariah Carey: Butterfly (Columbia)I think Mariah is one of the songbirds of this millennium and the music on this album is truly inspirational. Whenever I hear it I just want to dance.

Michael Jackson: Thriller (Epic)This was a landmark album and perhaps Jackson’s artistic high watermark. When it came out Jackson defined the world of pop music for me. Every track is a winner. A classic.

Various Artists: West Side Story [Soundtrack] (Sony Classical)This features some of the greatest music ever. I listen to it over and over and never tire of it. A fabulous musical. Try to get the original Broadway cast recording.

Miles Davis: Sketches of Spain [50th Anniversary Edition] (Sony Legacy)I grew up in a household where jazz was revered above all other forms of music. Davis was not only a giant in the jazz world but in this he made an absolutely wonderful album. Every home should have a copy.

Robin Thicke:The Evolutionof Robin Thicke (Indigo)This guy came out of nowhere and his first album is amazing. The song I particularly love is Lost Without U, a massive hit Stateside a couple of years ago. This is contemporary R&B at its best.

Stevie Wonder: Songs in the Key of Life (Universal/Island)I got into Stevie’s music at school and have been a fan ever since. As far as I’m concerned he’s the master composer. He’s cut a string of classic records but this is his masterpiece. It’s touched me as a woman.
