Street of Dreams - Nia Peeples - Song of the Week

Street of Dreams is a solo single from Nia Peeples released in 1991.

Hey Yeah, oh,
Mama always used to say
Good things come to those who wait
Just give it time
Now your out there on your own
Got no place to call your home
Make you lose your mind
Busy workin' day and night
Tryin' to bring your dreams to life
It just ain't right

Each time they knock you down
Get your feet back on the ground
Don't let 'em stand in your way

So if you feel that you just can't take it
And your world isn't what it seems
Don't forget that life can be what you make it
Baby when you live on a street of dreams
Street of dreams

No-one seems to understand
All they do is make demands
Tell you where to go
Got no business in your life
Tryin' to tell you wrong from right
You already know
Chasin' rainbows in the sky
Got to have the nerve to try
You've got to see it through

Hold on to what you know
Don't ever let it go
Someday you'll see it come true

So if you feel that you just can't take it
And your world isn't what it seems
Don't forget that life can be what you make it
Baby when you live on a street of dreams
Street of dreams

Each time they knock you down
Get your feet back on the ground
Don't let 'em stand in your way

So if you feel that you just can't take it
And your world isn't what it seems
Don't forget that life can be what you make it
Baby when you live on a street of dreams
Street of dreams

So if you feel that you just can't take it
And your world isn't what it seems
Don't forget that life can be what you make it
Baby when you live on a street of dreams
Street of dreams

Chasin' rainbows in the sky
Got to have the nerve to try

Trivia of the Week - Expose Script Differences

There are a few differences between the Expose episode and the Final script. There are a few words changed throughout the script that don't change the meaning of the scenes so I've not highlighted those.  The main changes are:

The Scene where Sherwood introduces Jeff Harris to the Class is extended in the script:

Also the scene where Doris and Coco tell Julie he's been replaced is also extended. It's a shame this little bit was cut because the line is so Coco!

The next scene in the cafeteria before Jeff sits with Julie is also slightly extended.

The first scene in Act 2 in the English Class is also slightly extended:

The Scene where Jeff goes to watch the Rehearsal of Mannequin and tells the kids about the article is Extended with Julie and Jeff watching outside the room and some humour about Leroy and the Mannequin!

The scene in the English Class after Julie accuses Coco of being interested in sleaze is extended.

Then there is a deleted scene set in the dance class.

After a slightly extended scene  where Julie phones her Mother to say they can't leave New York, there is a deleted scene in the Make up room where Julie tells the kids about Jeff's real article:

Song of the Week - Livin' in a World They didn't Make - Janet Jackson

"Livin' in a World They Didn't Make" by Janet Jackson comes from her 1989 album "Rhythm Nation 1814"

Children are called the future of an adult world
They are born with spirits so innocent
Til we teach them how to hate.

Add to the world's confusion
We teach our kids rules
That we don't adhere to ourselves
Right or wrong
What example can they take

The people we learn from
Forge the adults we become

Living in a world they didn't make
Living in a world that's filled with hate
Living in a world where grown-ups break the rules
Living in a world they didn't make
Paying for a lot of adult mistakes
How much of this madness can they take
Our children

Children grow to become our young adults
Problems of the world
They must learn how to confront
Doing drugs, joining gangs to rebel
Colors show they belong
To the social override
Cause they're living in a space
They feel out of place

Living in a world they didn't make
Living in a world that's filled with hate
Living in a world where grown-ups break the rules
Living in a world they didn't make
Paying for a lot of adult mistakes
How much of this madness can they take
Our children

How much can they take.

Living in a world they didn't make
Living in a world that's filled with hate
Living in a world where grown-ups break the rules
Living in a world they didn't make
Paying for a lot of adult mistakes
How much of this madness can they take
Our children

How much can they take.

How Much Can they take
Children of the world they are born so innocent
how much can they take, take the babies taken the babies.

"My friends say I'm a fool, it doesn't matter.
They don't see you as I do.
You're the image of perfection standing there,
With your somewhat studied pose and your very uptown nose.
But I know you'll never hurt me,
And you surely won't desert me,
And I love ya, though everybody stares.

Mannequin,
I love your frozen grin.
Mannequin,
You got it all over most humans.
You're insistent, not too persistent
Mannequin.

I've been in love with colder woman,
but they don't turn me on.
But the first time I saw you standing there,
I could see you had some charm.
And you could really turn it on.
It's a love so warm and tender,
Oh, the joy of sweet surrender.
I love ya, I love ya, I do.

Mannequin,
I love your frozen grin,
Mannequin,
You got it all over most humans,
You're insistent, not too persistent,
Mannequin.

I love ya, I love ya, I do.

Mannequin,
I love your frozen grin.
Mannequin,
You got it all over most humans.
You're insistent, not too persistent,
Mannequin.

I love ya, Mannequin!"
