Quotes on Filming "Fame" from David Greenlee

"That was so much fun, being both frog and prince while the great Ms Gibb owned that song so fully and well. We got to play dress up so much on Fame and for me that was a big bonus, MGM had such a deep collection of costumes to draw from coming from decades of film making history..

"This episode was an experience I will never forget, rewarding and also nerve wracking because the story included Dwight singing 'Sing A Rainbow' while sitting next to Melissa Manchester, one of the world's great singers. I had in fact never sung so much as a note in front of anyone, I was just an actor and I'd only recently started taking a few voice classes because of Fame, so I was very nervous that day. A baptism of singing fire, a first song, on TV to Melissa. Melissa Manchester was so sweet and helpful on that day and on all of our filming days, the Fame musical staff as always brilliant on ahead of the game as well. Dwight was even more nervous about singing than I was, if that makes any sense, and from that starting place I think I've improved vocally over the years. 'Sing A Rainbow' is a constant part of my 'Concerts In My Car"

"So anyway, that episode is in my bones more than some others and I learned so much from doing it that I am still processing the lessons. It was a massive honor to have those scenes with Melissa Manchester, and she did such a great job acting in the episode, far better than I did with the singing!"
