Fame Big Brother Week 5 Vote Now!

It's week 5 of Fame Big Brother. After a suggestion that all of the season 5 and 6 charcters should be dropped I've changed the vote this week. In favour of equality as the later kids are cast members too and it would be wrong to just simply evict people after we've started. I've turn the decision over to you. There are only 10 places available in the next round so 6 people will leave this week. Who Goes You decide! The 10 characters with the most votes will survive. Multiply votes are allowed with an opportunity to vote once per day.

Last week Ian was evicted!

My Top Ten Pet Hates On Fame - No 1

At number one on my Fame Pet Hates chart is No explanation for Bruno leaving.

Over the six seasons we saw many characters come and go but sadly the show didn’t always explain those departures. Personally, I saw this as a disservice to the shows fans and to the cast members involved. After all it’s the characters that make the show and we tune in week after week to see what are favourites are up to.

Although characters like Montgomery, Dwight, Kate and Cassidy also had no explanation for their disappearance it is Bruno’s exit that bothers me the most. Having transferred from the film Bruno was a huge part of the early seasons and Lee was such a hard worker, writing music for the show and even writing a script, along with the usual acting and singing duties. So not to make any mention of why Bruno is no longer around was just unforgivable. I can understand a little better when characters like Kate and Cassidy who were only in a few episodes and get written out that the writers think the audience won’t notice or even care but not to notice Bruno has gone. Did they think we were all idiots?

It would have been so easy to add a few lines of dialogue into the 1st episode of season 4 just to mention where he’s gone but sadly no all his friends seem to have completely forgotten he even existed! Surely Doris or Shorofsky would have cared that he was no longer around?

It really is the worst writing and decision making to lose a character after 3 seasons with no explanation and one of the biggest mistakes they made on the show .

My Top Ten Pet Hates On Fame - No 2

At number 2 on my pet hates for Fame is Killing Nicole.

I’m a big fan of Nia and Nicole was one of my favourite characters on the show. Now nobody likes their favourites to leave a show and particularly on Fame where people just disappeared without a word.

Now in the U.K. we didn’t get the season 6 episodes until 1992 and I’d already heard that Nicole was to be killed off in a drink driving accident. I didn’t want one of my favourites to leave in this way but I thought if you have to go that way at least it will be dramatic.

However, the channel showing Fame for some bizarre reason did not show “Go Softly Into Morning” and it was another 4 years before I got a copy of the episode and the copy I had was an American NTSC version and wouldn’t play properly on my PAL video so I tried watching through the fuzz and constantly rolling screen. Although not a particularly pleasant way to watch I got the gist of the story. I have since got a proper copy so I could watch it properly.

I was so very disappointed by the episode as I’d been expecting some dramatic scenes with Nicole on her death bed saying goodbye to her friends and family or at least an action scene where we see the car crash and Nicole being pronounced dead and the instant reaction of the characters she was with. However, Nia isn’t even in the episode and to me that’s the worst way to kill a major character. I wanted the drama and the chance to mourn the character’s passing but killing her off screen just left me in denial thinking she’s not really dead.

I heard there were behind the scenes problems on the show, which is why Nia left and at the same time the writers were struggling to make the drink drive story work. So to me it just seemed like a cheap way to get rid of a character and solve their story problems. I think it was a disservice to Nia, Nicole and to the fans.

The episode itself is fine but everything happening off screen leaves me cold.
