I've tried to edit as much of the talking as possible but there is still some on the track. Why did they feel the need to talk over the songs so much in season 5?

I agree, it annoyed me greatly.
I wonder where the tapes of the recordings are held? Could you imagine a boxset release of all the songs! One can only dream!
I've often though about a similar release with the full, uninterupted songs on it.
However that is on the wish list along with every season being out on DVD with lots of extras including cast commentaries on every episodes.
If they need someone to organise it all and put it together then I'm available and I'd probably work for free.
